THE FOUNDER'S VISION

Some organizational predispositions are universal. For instance, the inclination to look in the rearview mirror to solve future problems or the proclivity for seeking majority acceptance of an approach:

‘If all others are practicing the approach, it ought to be good!'

The prevalence of such predispositions has forced companies to adopt ‘best practices’ indiscriminately where issues remain unresolved. This has created blind spots where companies ignore the “human” at the center; the essential building block of  an  organization.

More than three decades ago I made an unorthodox move from academia to the corporate world, armed with a Doctorate in Industrial Psychology and Organizational Behaviour. I gained first-hand experience across different industries and various countries, working my way up the leadership ladder, allowing me to witness each important facet of the business, from Ground Zero to the Boardroom. A common propensity I observed across companies was Institutional Inertia:

An unquestioning compliance and deference to ‘tried and tested’ methods, even though most were based on concepts and approaches that had outlived their relevance.

I realized the profound  impact psychologists have in organizations, purely due to their deep understanding of human behaviour. The  opportunity to broaden the horizon of impact and craft meaningful solutions to address individual and organizational issues, is the inspiration behind AARUNYAM.

AARUNYAM refers to the first rays of the sun, signifying a gentle dawn that dispels darkness - it “illuminates” both the world and the inner mind. The need to bring in new light and new wisdom to help organizations was inspired by this rising sun - a metaphor for new beginnings, hope, and renewal.
